Eroded Fault
The fault pushes up layers of rock that are then eroded back by weather.
Dyke
Igneous rock forces its way up through sedimentary layers.

A series of pieces examining the way deformations of the Earth’s crust appear as changed strata.

Stoneware, carved, slipped and glazed
‘Fault’ Stoneware vessel with various clay additions (agate), carved, slipped and glazed with lichen and lava glazes. Sections of the crust move in different directions and a fracture occurs.

‘Anticline/Syncline’ similar agate additions and reactive glazes. The crust is pushed up or slumps down causing tensions and splitting the rocks. Debris accumulates.
Anthropocene 1 – Man creates his own strata.

A test piece for some college work.
Testing the way lichen glaze adheres to a groove and the look of some unglazed fired slip.
When it all goes horribly wrong. Just smash it and reclaim!
